My friends' parents bought this 1968 Buick LeSabre 400 Brand new in 1968. In fact, they even filled out the order sheet. When they unfortunately passed, the car just sat parked for 26 years. The 400 model has the high compression high performance 350 small block, and the turbo 400 transmission. This car is loaded with goodies, including an 8 track player! I take on the challenge of firing the old boy up again, and attempting to drive 600 miles back home!

I'm subbed to at least 10-15 car channels that I never watch because they are obnoxious, over produced, or underplay how a mechanic thinks about or approaches fixing cars. You've got a good relationship with the camera, and I like the the premise of finding and fixing affordable cars with good bones. I also like that you bring your kid and teach him the foundation of working on cars. I happened on this channel by chance, and in two hours I've watched a Buick LaSabre come to life, and bought a VGG hat. It's been a good morning.

Little piece of advice that might be handy; -You can backflush a radiator as you drive home by opening it with a towel and letting it spew everywhere, then filling it back up and driving another 50 mi and repeating the process until it blows out clear. Learn this from personal experience in a 57 Dodge wagon from San Francisco to Las Vegas...

Back in 87 a friend and I drove the same car from South Carolina to New York. We spent a week in New York then On our way back to South Carolina we broke down in Delaware. The engine seised because we forgot to put oil in it. I remember both of us sitting in the car laughing to the point of tears. We were just teenagers and didn’t know a dam thing about cars. We ended up calling our parents who didn’t know we drove to New York and got plane tickets back to South Carolina. We both got punished for 2 weeks but it was worth it.

Did this with a 1954 chevy 6400 2 ton . Sat for around 20 years and had 18k miles. Just a few minor tweaks, a fuel tank, a fuel pump, and a different carb is all it took. Took it off a farm in SD and drove it about the same distance as you.....without brakes, only the parking brake on the trans. Danger ride. Top speed was about 40mph.
