There was a quote somewhere where one of the story board people said they WERE going to make an end and show where 22 was going to be born at. If I recall, 22 was going to be born in India (there's a dot on her earth path that's also a red dot on India or in south east asia). But in the end they left it to the viewer's imagination :)

22 becomes Riley from Inside Out. There's plenty of evidence for it: 1. 22 goes through all the emotions Riley goes through during the events of Inside Out. 2. 22's personality fits with what we know about Riley. 3. Pete Docter is the director of both Soul and Inside Out and it's probable that he had Riley in mind when he created 22 (not confirmed, just a possibility). This would also explain the many references to Inside Out in Soul, including that the structure and view of the Great Before kind of reminds me to how Riley's mind is portrayed in Inside Out. 4. When Joe is the underground we can see an advertisement of Brang, the same enterprise for which Riley's dad works. 5. Soul finishes with 22 going to Earth and Inside Out begins with Riley being born. How curious, right? 6. Both 22 and Riley share love for pizza, except brocoli pizza (minor detail, but I leave that there). 7. 22 spending some time in Joe's body and later becoming Riley would explain why Riley has two emotions represented as males (while both her parents and her classmates all have all female or all male emotions). One interesting bit about Soul is how it fits into Inside Out. Note that there are six pieces of an incomplete earth pass and five of those pieces are colored yellow, blue, green, red and purple. Does that sound familiar? Yes! Those are the colors of each emotion in Inside Out! So it appears that in The Great Before your soul has characteristics that become the personalities of each emotion which explains why emotions have different features in a young individual. Presumably, when a soul enters a body, it splits into the different emotions with those specific characteristics. Later as that individual grows, their emotions become unique to only that individual.

I think that 22 becomes Violet from The Incredibles. Why? I'm not sure if this will be enough for you but..... ok here we go..... Remember in the first movie of The Incredibles when Violet was not self confident of herself, 22 wasn't confident of herself because she couldn't get her Earth Pass. But then in The Incredibles 2 Violet always stood up for herself then got her confidence. Just like when 22 had gotten her self confidence and went to Earth. Soo yeah..... I don't know if that was enough proof but I had fun typing this.

Wasn't it specified that the "Spark" wasn't the talent or calling of the person soul but rather they got it when they realized they wanted to live on Earth. In the movie soul when the man is talking with the soul counselors he explains to them that the only reason why 22 is going to Earth is because they stole HIS spark, and that Jazz is his spark. The counselor then explains "That's not what the Spark is" (?) where then it flashes back to 22 living in the moment and loving being alive.

I think its Riley. She and 22 are very similar. They are both chaotic in a good way, and want to live life. Plus Rileys breakdown is very similar to 22s. They both were in an uncontrollable state of mind. You could almost argue Riley was in the zone.

I'm not sure why but my immediate thought after 22 went to earth was that she became Riley from Inside Out. I just feel like the similarities between both their personalities is spot of and if you take the ending of Soul and begin Inside Out it just flows perfectly. I just can't shake this theory, it's the only one that makes complete sense to me.

There is a small clue at 2:31 when he is looking at her spark. I mean it’s hard to decipher because you can’t really tell what the symbols mean but it’s supposed to be part of 22’s personality or whatever. The one symbol that slightly might makes sense for boo is the symbol of a clock right under his ghost thumb. Idk just an idea.

cant be wall-e because soul and wall-e are in different times. when joe dies, the world is still clean and full of people. in wall-e, there seems to be no sign of intelligent life anywhere. so since that's the case, it cant be wall-e. id soul and wall-e WERE in the same time, it would've been, 22 cant find someone to give a purpose because everyone was on the axiom, so she gave up until eve tries to gain wall-e's memory back, that's when she gave him the purpose. honestly tho, I don't see it being wall-e.

Hello there! >Ellie is the best in Video (robot soul crosses a line for me personally.) An alternative 22 could be: ~ The Hudson Hornet from cars; cares about, and is social with friends(loving moments// memories). Also is cynical about MaQueen when he rolls into town. Racing has "in the moment" times for MaQueen, you can't convince me he didn't have his own moments. Hudson has his own area full of collected items that feel like 22's cubby; AND 22 collected badges from past teachers... even though they CAN"T all be great memories, just like he kept the dusty trophies even though they aren't exactly happy memories, reminding him how they gave up on him. My favorite suggestion from other comments: "I never look back darling it distracts from the now" ~Edna Mode~ from incredibles. (I know its already listed below & other places)

I initially thought Riley or Remy. But I like Colette or Ellie as options too. Someone in the comments said Edna and I think that’s viable as well. Out of all of those I think Edna is most plausible-after all she likes fire 🔥 and is very wise 😁

Honestly J, thanks for using they/them pronouns. I think it’s important to normalize using they/them pronouns for people (also souls and multi dimensional beings) that you don’t know the gender of. Most people would use she/her pronouns for 22 because they have a female voice. This is something I’m working on so props to you.

I also think 22 could also be Hero (maybe even Tadashi, tbh) from Big Hero 6. I know that one of 22's traits is cynical, but I feel like they're mostly cynical of living and not necessarily towards other people. In the actual movie, we see 22 being very interested and inspired by other people, as well as being inspiring in return. And Hero is rather cynical either way, so I don't necessarily think that the traits are ones that will stick and that experiences will change and shape them. It's also worthy to note that 22 brings people together and seems very fond of trying new things out on earth. Just a random, not put together, thought.

Fun fact: in the original script, Joe was going to take the job as a music teacher at the end of the movie and 22 would later on become a student of his, which they were going to hint that joe remembered them from someone.
